A message from Dean Venkataramanan “Ragu” Balakrishnan

Bravo to the class of 2024

Dear alumni and friends,

In a few short weeks, we will welcome another year of Case School of Engineering graduates to the ranks of alumni. The Class of 2024 has the privilege of joining an outstanding group of individuals throughout the world who have used their foundational education as a launching pad to great success.

I am eager to see how this group joins you in your efforts to make the world a better place. Since their arrival on campus, they’ve been no stranger to adversity, facing the challenges of remote learning, adjusting and readjusting to campus life and, yet, still excelling both in and outside of the classroom. They care deeply about the world around them and they are fearless in their pursuit to make a difference. I have no doubts that they will be excellent engineers.

Here on campus, there are many initiatives underway that are both educating those future leaders, but also making positive change in their own right. In this edition of Case Alumnus you will read about numerous Case engineers — alumni, students and faculty — who are pushing the envelope, conducting cutting-edge research, and thinking big.

From Department of Energy funded projects like Professor Kathryn Daltorio’s most recent award, which has the potential to solve a national problem by bringing power lines underground, to the founding of our first quantum computing club for students, life on Case Quad is as busy as ever and in the following pages you’ll get all the details.

Best regards,
Venkataramanan “Ragu” Balakrishnan
