A message from Dean Venkataramanan “Ragu” Balakrishnan

Our graduates give us hope for the future

A dean sees a school of engineering that connects to the outside word, driving industry innovation and workforce development.

Dear Alumni and Friends,

As we approach the end of another remarkable academic year, I am filled with pride at all we have accomplished in the Case School of Engineering. This spring, we celebrate the work of the entire community and especially the accomplishments of our newest class of CWRU engineers.

Our graduates, like those before them, have demonstrated exceptional dedication and ingenuity throughout their academic journey. In the classroom and through involvement in entrepreneurship opportunities, global pursuits, and participation with teams like Baja or CWRUbotix, they have tackled complex challenges, worked collaboratively on innovative projects, and honed the skills that will empower them to shape the world in meaningful ways. They step out into the world ready to make an impact in their respective fields.

These graduates represent more than just the culmination of their studies — they are a symbol of the enduring strength and future of our profession. Their passion, creativity, and drive give us hope for what lies ahead. As they venture into new careers and advanced studies, I am confident that they will continue to uphold the standards of excellence that define CWRU.

Our graduates’ success reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and alumni network in nurturing the next generation of leaders. I want to thank my colleagues and all of you for all you have done to support our students this year. Together, we are shaping the future — one engineer at a time.

Best regards,
Venkataramanan “Ragu” Balakrishnan
