Homecoming 2025 features several changes amidst the sturdy Case traditions

History will shine at Homecoming 2025 as the Case Alumni Association celebrates its 140th birthday. And that’s just for starters. This year also marks the 145th anniversary of the Case School of Engineering, which traces to the opening of the Case School of Applied Science in 1880.

Meanwhile, the university has begun celebrating the bicentennial of Western Reserve College, which opened in Hudson in 1826. Reserve merged with Case in 1967 to create today’s CWRU. Against that historic backdrop, Homecoming will feature several new locations and events.

Friday, Oct. 10: The evening starts at 5 p.m. with the Dean’s Reception, which is moving from Nord Hall to Hvorka Auditorium, a space best known for the visages of the university’s Nobel laureates. Interim Dean Chris Zorman, MS ’91, PhD ’94, will host the event for the first time. All are welcome but registration is required.

At 6 p.m., the 140th Annual All Classes Reunion and Awards Program begins in Eldred Hall, the recently renovated theater complex on Case Quad. The program is moving from Strosacker Auditorium to the cozier confines of Eldred.

Saturday, Oct. 11: At 11 a.m., the popular Coffee and Chat with the Dean begins in the lobby of Tomlinson Hall. It will be followed by the familyfriendly CIT-Case School of Engineering All Classes Lunch in the basement of Tomlinson. Lunch is complimentary but registration is required.

There will be several new events this year appealing to a range of interests and affinities. For example:

  •  Tours of the computer labs in the newly renovated Olin Hall, which features art installations inspired by Don Knuth ’60, PhD
  • A chance to be inducted into the Case chapter of the Order of the Engineer
  • A CIT Football Reunion
