Engineers commanded the highest starting salaries of CWRU graduates last spring, a median $80,000-$84,999 a year, and often enjoyed other lures as they considered jobs. According to a survey of the class of 2023, 40 percent of CWRU graduates were offered signing bonuses.

The so-called First Destinations Survey by the CWRU Career Center looked at what happened to the most recent graduating class. It found that CWRU graduates continued to land jobs in a strong economy and that engineering graduates were the most likely to enter the workforce.

About 60 percent of the new Case engineers accepted a job offer, while 35 percent went on to graduate school. Only one percent of engineering graduates surveyed were looking for work.

Overall, 27% of CWRU graduates accepted a job in engineering — making it the most sought after industry. The top five employers of engineering graduates were Epic, Proctor & Gamble, EY, Deloitte, and Rockwell Automation.

The annual survey plumbed some new depths this year, shedding more light on the power of a CWRU degree. It found, for example, that 74 percent of pre-med majors were accepted to a medical school. The national average is 46 percent.
